As soon as I click on launch either through GOG Galaxy or in the folder it just flickers and crashes, no matter what compatibility I have chosen. I'm Windows 10 Home 64 bit. AMD Ryzen 7 5800 with Ryzen graphics, DX 12, 16GB Ram, NVIDIA geforce rtx 3060 laptop

What ended up working for me thanks to the support team, is uninstalling and making sure it is a fresh install into:
C:\Program Files\GOG Games\Star Trek Bridge Commander
and under compatibility checking disable fullscreen optimizations and run as administrator. I have also been launching the game from the .exe itself and not a shortcut and the issues seem to be resolved and it runs great. I hope this helps.

Nah no joy on that one so far :( It does however get me an error message saying D3D Render Creation Error Desired fullscreen display mode not supported. But adding -w to the shortcut doesn't make it open in windowed mode. Thanks for the help, though.

There is another thread here that mentions the D3D Render Creation Error. The information it gives is as follows:

D3D Render Creation Error
"Creation failed: Desired fullscreen display mode not supported"

This happens if the vanilla game default resolution setting is not supported by your screen. It also happens if you choose a resolution in game that is higher then your windows screen resolution. After that you cannot start the game to adjust the resolution.

Solution: right click on the stbc.exe (application) in your gog galaxy/games/Star Trek Bridge Commander folder (or wherever you installed it). Choose the Compatibility tab. Check the box for "Run in 640x480 screen resolution", "Disable fullscreen optimisations" and choose the 16-bit reduced colour mode. You should then be able to start the game again and pick a resolution that works. After that you can uncheck the stuff on the stbc.exe again.
