OK so if GOG haven't changed the game to include multiplayer then here is how you can do it.

Install Game Ranger on your PC

You will need an account to login.

When Game ranger is open, change the middle section where it says All Games to My Games

On the Menu click Edit and then Options.

This will list all games compatible with Game Ranger.

Scroll ~Down until you see Star Trek Armada

In the bottom Right hand corner, click Browse and Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Star Trek Armada

Click Open

This will add Armada to your installed games.

Host a game. when people have joined and you are ready to launch do the following

Game Ranger does all the loading of the Multiplayer for you but this isn't working on the GOG version.

Click Multiplayer
Click TCPIP
Click Create Game
And do as you would normally with the selecting of the Map etc.

Now that you have done that, others will launch from the lobby. They will also have to click Multiplayer, TCPIP and your game will be listed. It can take about 30 seconds for your game to be listed.

IMPORTANT if this is the first time you have done this then your firewall might be blocking the connection. Make sure Private and Public networks are allowed.

This question might appear a few times before allowing you to join games.

Also sometimes the game does not list in the Armada lobby. Only had this once but simply quitting the game and rehosting fixed this.

If anyone in your game lobby in GR is showing in italics or has a symbol next to their name then there is an issue with ports or firewalls. Port 16000 needs to be open on the router and or PC firewall. Or try temporarily disabling your firewall altogether and or putting your PC in the DMZ on your router. Be sure to turn these back on after youve finished playing or removing your PC from the DMZ.

There are already some people on Game Ranger playing. I also have all the old maps like Wardiamond and 8Ua etc.

There are other alternatives to game ranger. They are usually VPN connections that only allow friends to play in a closed environment.
