MysterD: so, what will we do, when Galaxy or Steam go away for Achievements?
SchmidtWorkshops: The game does not require any active internet connection to run. If it cannot find the achievements server, it just continues without activating anything.
Correct, of course - no DRM's allowed here on GOG...which is great and why I bought it here, of course.
What I meant was: Achievement-wise once GOG or Steam goes away since that Achievement-stuff's all server-connected and Achievements are online-connected, what will we do to Achievement-wise?
This is exactly why I think games should have Achievements first built into the game itself for offline play without any non-sense services (especially if they don't plan to implement GOG Achievements or Steam Achievements) - so they I can earn it offline and in-game.
Once that's done, then dev's should integrate Achievements also into Galaxy, Steamworks, Epic Online Services, etc. That sounds redundant and all - but, once those Achievement-servers are dead (that probably won't be anytime soon probably for any of those big-dogs), we still could Achieve stuff if Achievements are built old-school style into the game and have offline profiles, like Divinity 2: DC PC version does (before game had Achievement services online) and even Hard Reset Redux (GOG version).
I should've been clearer, so that's on me; my fault. Sorry about the lack of explanation.
And always awesome to hear a dev respond - so shout-out to you.
