Ok I just got sc 3 and it runs. Unfortunatly it runs at a massivly unplayable speed. Is there a way to get the speed undercontrol or did I just waste my cash?

Have you tried adjusting the speed manually in game? There's a slider along the bottom left hand corner of the main galaxy screen that will allow you to change the play speed to faster or slower.

Haha. No problem, bro. It IS kinda miniscule, so it's easy to miss. Happy gaming!
And it didnt slow it down nearly enough. Thank any way though m8. Was worth the try.
I can't remember if SC3 runs in DOS box or not, so this might not be helpful. Have you tried slowing down the CPU cycles when you run it?
Yes, it uses Dosbox. How fast is your game at minimum speed SteelShadow? It seems to be just twice or trice faster than real time for me, within the galaxy and system map.
For anyone still looking to solve this problem (I was, and had to work it out for myself in the long run from distantly-remember manual configurations of Dosbox) what you need to do is this:

find "dosboxSC3.conf" in your Star Control 3 directory and open it with notepad.

Find "cycles=max" and change cycles to a number. 3000 is a good place to start; it depends on your system so you will have to experiment to find what works for you (ctrl+F11 and ctrl+F12 will raise and lower, respectively, the cycles by 1000 while playing. Once you find the sweet spot you will still need to edit it into the conf manually)

Hope this helps!
