I would like someone with authority from GSC to confirm that the GOG release will be on par with the Steam release; and that GOG players will not have an inferior experience with any aspect of the game.

I've had some recent bad experiences with GOG games being sub-par compared to Steam versions (i.e. abandoned by developers, delayed patches, dysfunctional multiplayer features, etc).

Mind sharing which games you've got sub-par experience with on GOG?

Steam is all there is down in the bottom of the abyss.

I sure hope so seeing that the GOG version carries the same price tag as the Steam version and the promised features between the two are the same (barring the steam profile related freebies).

Will mostly be true at launch but it is difficult to say for the support in the long run though. Historically GSC have not discriminated with the OG trilogy on Steam vs GOG so I hope the same applies for stalker 2 as well.

Cant speak for the OP, but I too sometimes have issues with games I bought on GOG.

E.g.:
"Invisible Inc." Cloud saves disabled
"Life Is Strange", or "Observation" Achievements broken
"Ghost of a Tale" Cant rollback to previous versions, that would allow me to play the game in VR
"The Witcher 3" Save system that creates 1000 save slots and then makes GOG send me emails that I need to clean up my cloud saves.
"City of Mordheim" Multiplayer disabled (It also says so on the shop page, therefor not a bug. Just sayin that the experience is different on GOG)

I don't know if these issues still exist. It just bugged me when I played the games and sometimes wished games here would work more how they do on steam.

And I think it is characteristic, that my question I asked here a week ago: If I could buy a physical copy of Stalker 2 with a GOG key instead of a steam key has zero answers. On steam users are more engaged, more active and developers seem to care much much more what kind of impression they leave.

I still prefer GOG. It is doing a very good job. But steam is, apart from the ethical approach, really excellent in every way and hard to compete with.

When I posted this I had just had a very bad experience with Dragon's Dogma (totally non-functional multiplayer which is core to the game - renting pawns). And also with Age of Wonders 4 (broken/non-existant cloud saves).

I wish I could refund this but I can't. I am not buying any more games on GOG after my experiences unless I am forced to.

A good idea before buying a game on gog is to give a look to this google sheet to see if the game devs/editor delivered a correct version to gog or a version with removed features :

I like GOG a lot, most of my games are here, i dont think the versions are a problem, they might be out on steam sooner, but GOG will have the same game eventually.

I dont mind the achivements breaking down, to be fair when i hunt those down the game starts to feel like a chore, a job, unless it s a game i really like, but its a fair thing to complain of course.

That being said i agree with the people that complain about GOG galaxy, its not good enough when the game has some online features, like Dragons Dogma does, so i buy those type of games on steam, any game thats heavy on coop or MP i buy there, rest is here because GOG DRM free policy for me is something to be supported.

I guess in the end it's down to if you want to own or rent the game in question. I buy all my favourite games on GoG when possible so that I can own them and also keep a specific version if I want. I want something for my money rather than tick on a user licence.
