Hello Stalkers,

I'm new to the whole Franchise and tried to install the FN-P90 and Mosin from Gosuke...

FN-P90 - gosuke weapon mod v1.02
Mosin Nagant - gosuke weapon mod 3 v1.0

My only Problem was, both change the same Files, of course. I merged the Textfiles together manually with Notepad++ Compare Feature [def don't wanna do THAT again, there's gotta be an easier Way...] but the Inventory Icons File was the real Problem. I tried merging that, as well - but the Mosin was replacing another Rifle in the P90s Icon File, which I didn't care much about since it was an ugly one either Way. The P90s Icons were okay, and so were the Mosins, and that's pretty much all I cared about.

So, starting the Game, I got the Mosin and Ammo from Wolf by talking to him, no Problem, works like a Charm - the P90 was supposed to be bought from the Barkeeper though, and today, I reached that Place and got it.

Now...

Issue 1) MERGING MODS
My main Concern is, how do I merge two Mods together without tinkering so much? What if Inventory Icons overlap? Any Chance to change and fix the Icons, then...? Stalker surely can't be limiting you to just one Gun Mod, can it! And how do I check they're working, without having to progress through the Game and reach the Bar for example, only to see that it doesn't work...?

Issue 2) 7N1 Ammunition
Also, since the Mosins Ammo doesn't seem to drop anywhere, I ran out rather quickly and wasn't able to use it after that. And now, I've got the Mosin but am unable to restock on its Ammo... where do I get my 7N1 Ammonition from, any Advice where to find it, and LOTS of it?

Thanks!

Update:
Finished the Game. The Ammo indeed is very, very hard to come by. The only Source of 7N1 seems to be either Duty or Freedom, their respective Arms Trader has a high Chance on having them, 10 to 30 Rounds at max, I kept buying, quicksaving and reloading for them to respawn... huge Waste of Time. Also, they're only available once you're friendly with their Faction [when they sell you their Armor]. With Duty, you may be able to sneak in there beforehand and trade, but the Ammo still won't show up until after you completed the Mission in the Lab you're being send to and already have Access to the Trader.

This means, for about Half of the whole Game [Main Story], you can't use the Mosin, for example! Or other Vanilla Sniper Rifles for that Matter [highly doubt you'd have one anyways]. Despite the Wiki claiming 7N1 may drop from Boxes in the Lab, I never encountered any, and I've broken every single Box there was. In the (true) End, at CNPP, there's a Chance they might drop from Boxes - but by then, you encounter enough Enemies [still very rarely though] that drop them throughout the Game. Most of them are, logically, Snipers on Watchtowers, and 10 Rounds are a lucky Find.

In Short: WAY too little Ammo for the Mosin to really make Sense throughout all of the Game. Definitely needs to be added to misc Enemies Drops, just like the P90s Ammo, which is everywhere. Using it exessively, my Ammo still went up, as roughly every second Enemy has one to three mags [50 - 150 Rounds] on him.

Still would like to know how merging Mods works!

BlackSun: Still would like to know how merging Mods works!
best way to compare and merge the xml / text files in mods for stalker is probably winmerge: http://winmerge.org/
this works well on the whole (did it myself in the early days of clear sky modding)
however, for textures, you're gonna need something like photshop (and maybe some plugins).
So it really is that much of a Pain? I don't see the Majority of People being able to handle this fiddly Stuff. I've seen some Mod Installers floating around, but I don't trust them much, either. I'd try them, if I could use the Console to get Stuff without playing Hours into the Game... Someone mentioned an Item Spawner somewhere, so there obviously is a Way, but how...? Is it another Mod? I really hate it when Developers restrict their Console so much...

as to mod installers, I wouldnt bother, you're much better off just getting one of the bigger mods - HOWEVER - its strongly suggested you play the game through VANILLA first.

yeah there are some item spawn mods - but really, by using them you'll breakpart of the enjoyment of the game (remember - one of the base gameplay elements is the feeling of survival).

if you've already completed the vanilla game, then perhaps one of the overhauls such as Oblivion Lost would be more to your taste - adds in missing content, new items, guns etc and fixes a few broken elements too.

also - helps if you hit the "reply" button (hover your cursor over the post you want to reply to and it appears on the top right of it).
I don't like huge Mods. Never intended to get them.
Nor did I ever like 98% of STALKER's Vanilla Weapons.
That's the Reason why I never picked it up until lately.

The only Reason I played it, and now CoP, is the P90, any beautiful looking Repeater [Mosin here] and the H&K USP Match Pistol. All of these are Weapons I've got as Airsoft Guns as well, just because I think they look either beautiful or awesome.

If it wasn't for these, I wouldn't have started playing the Game. It's actually kinda hard as well, limiting myself to these three Weapons when it's actually easier to have a Shotgun, or an Underbarrel Grenade Launcher, which I never used. Only Exception is the Beginning, read: until I got my favorite Guns, and the one Time I picked up an RPG with 1 Missile to shoot and discard. Oh, and the one Time I stabbed the S out of the first Pseudogigant with my Knife after it appeared to be immune to Bullets, I assumed they were being deflected by some sick Psi Stuff or something like that. I was wrong, but I only learnt after I went and stabbed that Thing to Death like a Maniac.

Now I've got SMRTER for CoP, because it's got the only P90 for CoP I could find. Though, the Animations are wrong, and the Scale of the P90 as well I guess. But the actual, real, USP Match with the black Counterweight is in it, as well as a few beautiful Repeaters, and Silencers to attach and Stuff, so, it's all good - except I literally miss my Crosshair which I'm unable to re-enable, even with the Options Pack that claims to do so. Snorks are flippin' Rage inducing in Tunnels without a Crosshair, did I mention that yet...? Well, they are.

Overall, it was a little bit too much Backtracking for me in SoC, so CoP is a better Experience as of now. Just hope for the tense Atmosphere to kick back in like in SoCs Labs... those were AWESOME. And the Scorcher as well. That's how you do. Really loved them. So creepy.

I wouldn't really replay it though, someday maybe, but I'll just go back to a previous Save for the Sidequests I didn't do yet [Backtracking Syndrome]. Because, as I said, the Fun comes with playing in my preferred Gear, for me. Much more immersive because, that's the Stuff I'd really want to have in that - as it turns out surprisingly interesting! - Scenario.

*Edit: Oh. Up THERE is the Reply Button. Makes PERFECT Sense. D:
