Never played the game as usually some snafu

Recently download the patch
patch_s.t.a.l.k.e.r._shadow_of_chernobyl_2.0.1.6

got informed that the game is not installed, so downloaded the install files again and got notification that it was installed

ran the patch and informed that the recently installed game could not actually be found

anyone got a work around or do I need to get a refund from gog ?

the file fsgame.ltx is corrupted (it contains duplicated lines)
Please reinstall the game (again) or fix the problem manually (without suggesting how to do so)

searched the folders and the latest install does not install any file called fsgame.ltx, so made one that I found off the net which does not work either:

I just now installed this to check this for you.

Caveat is I installed a version I downloaded back on Fed 09, 2014. But then I dl'd just now the patch file.

Both the game and patch installed just fine, and the game started right up and I began a new game - and it came right up (well, after the thankfully skippable promo vids).

I installed:

Game:
setup_stalker_shoc_2.0.0.5.exe
setup_stalker_shoc_2.0.0.5-2.bin
setup_stalker_shoc_2.0.0.5-1.bin

Patch:
patch_s.t.a.l.k.e.r._shadow_of_chernobyl_2.0.1.6.exe

One thing I notice about fsgame.ltx is that the first line (containing your "user" path) is entered in "short filenames" not long names. Mine is as follows: Maybe you can translate your line to short names and try that?
