I think that it is time for me to finally play this classic.. I actually bought it back in the day, but there was always something getting in the way......

Anyway, I know that there is a recommended mod thread, but I was looking for what is recommended for a first time player. Graphic mods? ENB?, game-play fixes/tweaks?

My personal recommendation is to go with ZRP (http://www.metacognix.com/files/stlkrsoc/) and nothing else. Many people recommend STALKER Complete, but I feel that it changes too much for a first time playthrough.

I recommend ZRP, too. There are many options in ZRP, so it can only fix most of bugs and annoyances occuring in the vanilla game or add some minor mods, like sleeping bag, better flashlight and modify weather, weapons, AI behaviour and more. Highly recommended.

The ZRP is really good. I think that'd be an excellent place to start.

Installed the graphics stuff from AA2 and stripped out the game play changes. Then I added ZRP for bug fixes.
