Okay, so I've tried to install it a few times with Wine, but every time installation gets stuck roughly 2/3 in. The window in the screenie appears and none of the options work. I'm on Archlinux64 with Wine, Winetricks, Wine-Mono and Wine-Gecko installed. The last line in the setup log contains an access violation message: 'Access violation at address 00457190 in module 'setup_stalker_shoc_2.0.0.5.tmp'. Write of address 0000024C.'

You could try extracting the installer with innoextract. This works for all GOG installers.

Note that the folder in userdocs needs to go to whatever Wine is using for My Documents. The game will make its own file if it can't find this one but the one it makes is different. This applies to all three S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games.

The installer needs to be run with the /nogui command line option, so the command is:

"setup_stalker_cop_2.0.0.12.exe /nogui"
To elaborate you'll want to run the command wine "/home/user/Downloads/setup_stalker_cop_2.0.0.12.exe /nogui" from the terminal. The path won't be exactly the same as what I wrote. You'll need to make sure it points to the correct location of the exe.
thanks guys. i will try tonight again. so that means i have to type the path...
but via crossover ? (cause i have crossover and wineskin)
anyway thanks guys thanks love you

I don't know for certain. If Crossover has a way of doing that without having to deal with the terminal, certainly try that first. If not, you might just have to do it with the terminal. I'm not familiar with Crossover like I am with WINE.

In CrossOver you can either go through "Manage Bottles" - select the bottle you want to install into, click "Run Command..." and then either click "Browse" to select the installer or enter its path manually - or you can right-click on the installer in the file manager, select "Open With --> CrossOver (Run)" (might differ slightly if you're not using KDE) and then select the bottle you want to install into. Then just add the /nogui option before clicking "Run".

Call of Pripyat works fine for me in CrossOver... did you try installing DirectX? Try creating a fresh bottle, installing "DirectX Runtime - Modern", disabling d3dx11_42 then installing CoP.
