My recommendation as a veteran Stalker fan is to play each game vanilla first. You can install ZRP for ShoC and SRP for CS, but I'd recommend against Complete for a first playthrough. It makes some things easier. Call of Pripyat needs no mods for bugfixes because it is the most stable. After your first runthrough you can play anything you want, I recommend Lurk for ShoC, The faction wars for cs, and misery for CoP. I personally don't like the brown color scheme for Misery, and if you agree you can change that by installing Atmosfear lite over top of it (backup files first, but it should still work). You can get a lot of Stalker mods here: https://mega.co.nz/#F!zEtSxC4J!eRsovn-n098UpRtLDmr5_w!fJFwlTQa

If you're looking for any skins for guns and such check gamebanana.com or stalker files

Good hunting Stalkers!
Has anyone made a good mod that adds subtitles?
I finished years ago the original STALKER, and after getting all the games I'm looking forward to revisit Shadow Of Chernobyl.

So.. the question would be: Which mods are recommended? I want to revisit the original storyline with better graphics (Which would point towards Complete) and some rebalancing (Which would point towards LURK. I don't want to fight again with those guns who don't hit anything), as I'm not afraid of a little more hardcore experience. Are those mods compatible, so I can get the graphic fanciness of Complete with the survivalism and harder pew pew of LURK?

I've seen there are other mods like STALKER soup, but I don't really get what it is about (Terrible web page).

Recommendations?
I've seen a lot of talk in this thread about how Complete ruins the gameplay for SoC, and to just use ZRP for a first playthrough. However, I've only seen Autumn Aurora 2 mentioned a couple times, and not much talked about in response. It seems like this is the best of both worlds with graphical updates, ZRP, and minimal gameplay changes. Am I getting the wrong impression on this mod? Why aren't more people recommending it as a first time playthrough? Do the graphic change the feel of the game too much?

Edit: Oh, perhaps some of what I was reading about AA2 was about the upcoming AA2.1 release?
Hello.

I tried playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: SHADOW OF CHERNOBYL more than a few times in the past, and always ran into bugs.
2 times I got stuck, and couldnt get out of the place I was stuck in, and it saved it there (or I saved it accidentally).
A couple other times I had save corruption.
And, yes, there were a couple places where it took me forever to get past, since I kept getting killed over and over and over.

So, I never even got close to finishing the game (maybe 3 hours of actual gameplay is the most I got (excluding the countless hours of this being the first rpg I ever played, and the steep learning curve for me)).

I would like to play the game with only a high-res-pack (better graphics), that does not alter the gameplay at all.
I would also like to play with a save-game mod, that doesnt change the way the game plays at all, but fixes save game corruption?

Is this possible?
Or, should I just get the (I think it was the Complete mod)? Makes the game look better and is easier to play?

Thanks for any advice.

Is the Stalker Complete mod compatible with the latest GOG version of Stalker Shadow Of Chernobyl?

I used the Complete 2009 pack with SOC and it worked fine. AI was a bit deadlier (played Vanilla and the AI didn't use grenades, with the pack they did).
