Hello everyone, the head bob in this game makes me sick, I have searched but I still can't seem to find a proper way to disable head bob.

I don't have '\gamedata\config\effectors.ltx' anywhere in the PC, the cam_inert values doesn't do anything.

Am I doing something wrong, I've tried uninstalling and installing from scratch, nothing changed, I still can't disable head bob, anyone knows how to disable it in GoG version?

Thanks.

It sounds like you have already tried set cam_inert 0 in the console. The common response to headbob complaints is to remove or reduce the camera inertia, which in STALKER SoC has a default value of 0.7 if the game has to recreate the user.ltx file. You should do this anyway, as high cam_inert values result in mouse lag that can contribute to motion sickness.

The game uses resource files (like gamedata\config\misc\effectors.ltx) in packed archives called gamedata.db*. You can extract that file, or you can get it from a mod. In either case, for SoC to use that file, you will need to set any 'false' on the second line of the fsgame.ltx file to 'true'. Visit http://www.metacognix.com/stlkrsoc/TroubleshootingFAQ.html#ModInstall if you need help doing this.

One mod that has that file is the ZRP bug-fix mod. Get the latest version here. Unpack it with a suitable extractor like 7-Zip. In that mod is a directory called gamedata\config\misc\optional\ which has a couple of files that address the headbob issue: effectors.ltx.no_bob and effectors.ltx.less_bob.

Make the gamedata\config\misc\ subdirectory path in your STALKER installation directory if it doesn't exist already, then copy one of the effectors.ltx.* files to that new gamedata\config\misc\ folder. Rename it to just effectors.ltx so the game can use it. Don't forget the fsgame.ltx change above.

The headbob should be gone in your game.

P.S. I highly recommend the ZRP bug-fixes anyway.

ZRP mod had no effect on fixing the head bobbing for me. I'm going to have to dig up my CD version of the game at this point because the headbobbing is unbearable.

Make sure it is NOT installed in program files or some other User Account Control protected folder as Windows protection, since Vista, tends to cancel out mod changes. There are ways around that if you DID install there, but in my view it is more hassle than its worth to mess with those Windows UAC protections

Some place installed like C:\games\ GoG\Stalker should be fine

Anyway ZRP or the method I earlier posted in another thread gets rid of headbob:

Head bob

x:\MyInstallPath\Stalker (Whatever game you have)\gamedata\configs\misc\effectors.ltx

Right at the top of the file look for and change it to this:

[bobbing_effector]

run_amplitude = 0.0
walk_amplitude = 0.0
limp_amplitude = 0.0
