EDIT: Solved! Turns out it was just the renderer option (Select Direct X9, not Direct X10).

I finished CoP some weeks ago and, after a break, I was ready to go back to the Zone.

I searched a bit for good mods to put on my first play through (After finishing CoP with Autumn Aurora 2), but found nothing, so I thought "ok, whatever" and started to play.

And then the horror. I started the game and then crash to desktop. Reload, play a bit more, crash to desktop. Repeat, rage, repeat.

I've seen something about tweaking the options, as it seems that some renders are completely unstable, but after trying several times, I've ended up despairing.

I have your standard PC Masterrace machine, in which I can move fairly well almost anything. There's any known issue with specific graphic card brands? Something I can do to fix the game?

might be a good idea to post your specs for a start.
secondly, it could be the patch # GOG uses - when the game released (as with SoC) some people had greater stability with different patches (dependent on their setup). theres a thread on here somewhere telling you how to "rollback" the patches.
I was hoping for some kind of "starting guide to make the game run", as the STALKER saga is known for being ironically as stable as the Zone itself.

Anyway, this is my machine, or at least what steam says that is my machine with a bit of tweaking:

well I'd definately look at rolling back the patch maybe - I think when I first played CS I had a similar radeon card.

Also try adding it to the list of DEP exceptions (this can often fix a lot of crashes / lag etc in some games)
- goto Control Panel\System and Security\System hit "advanced system settings" and then settings under "performance"
Data Execution Prevention is the third tab and you can figure out how to add the exe from there.

give it a go and get back to me (hitting the reply button that shows when you hover over a users avatar etc is a good idea - not trying to talk down to you bud in saying that, just get you sorted asap).

Didn't knew there was a "reply" button, lol.

I did the data prevention thing and it seems the game got a bit more stable (I managed to play over 15 minutes), but then crashed again.
I'll check around for the unpatch thing while looking for more answers, I guess.
