I just found out that choosing Duty i have to fight through hordes of Freedom fighters through Red Forest and the city. Any positives choosing Freedom over Duty?

My memory is very hazy on this so I can't be to helpful, but I think doing missions for Duty or Freedom may get you rewards like special armour you might not be able to otherwise get. Unfortunately I can't remember if any of the missions that give you those rewards require you to attack the other faction (making them hostile) or if there's a way to do it for both factions.

Something I feel like suggesting though, is either just do whatever you feel like doing rather than worrying about which gets you better gear/rewards, you'll probably have more fun just doing what you want and immersing yourself in whichever path you choose. Or follow one side so it will make it easier to see the other side should you replay at some point.

I joined Freedom recently and I regret it because it makes going to the 100 Rads Bar, a huge pain in the ass. You have to fight Duty members every time you try to go there. So I came to the conclusion, being a Loner is best.

Just finished the game and I never joined any faction. When running back to your stashes in one faction, you have to fight the other. I found being a Loner was indeed the more sensible choice.

I had a similar problem but it was only one guy. Took a while to figure out how to kill him but once he was gone, I could come and go in the bar as I pleased. If you managed to kill him, did new Duty folks appear later?
