Well, it's a problem nobody here is likely to be keen on helping with, as it has to do with Steam, but I AM using the GOG version.

Anyhow, every time I try to launch Call of Pripyat through Steam, it crashes. I mostly use Steam to keep in touch with friends because they took down Windows Live Messenger, and most of my friends use it instead of YIM or AIM.

I get an error message that says "Cannot open file fsgame.ltx . Check your working folder"

Anyone have any ideas?

Well, the error says it cannot open fsgame.ltx.

Check the folder you have the game installed in. Is there a fsgame.ltx file?

I can't find one, but I should clarify the game runs fine when not launched through Steam.
In Steam, right click on Call of Pripyat and click properties. Edit the start in folder so it reads: "C:\GOG Games\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat\"

To do that, click in the text field for "Start in:" and delete "bin\" and from there it should work like the GOG launcher and run. Just tested it to be sure.

The best people to ask are the GOG.com support people. They are usuallt pretty fast with a response and they can always help. Though because you say it opens fine outside of steam, but not through steam they might not be able to help because it seems like steam is the offending program. Which they have no control over.

But never hurts to ask!
