Hello everybody!

I am trying to run this game out of a Linux system, which ususally is not a problem. DosBox is running natively, so it shouldn't matter much.

I am using the Heroic Game Launcher to download and install the game. It worked flawlessly.
However, I am running into issues. When hitting the "Play"-Button, it starts a DosBox window which closes immediately. If I go into the directory and launching "fixboot.exe" with Wine, the same seems to happen. When starting "spydos.exe" with wine, it starts the windows version of DosBox which came with the installation and asks to insert Disk 1. When starting it with the Linux version of DosBox, it's the same. I assume this is not intended behavior, or is it?

So the win installation of DosBox and the Linux version both have this outcome, so I have no idea what's going on. Is the "fixboot.exe" supposed to change this somehow?

Did anybody of you experience something similar?

Thanks for reading so far, I apreciate your help!

Good to know I am not alone.

But what can we do? Does one of the folders in the game directory contain the CD data? When I mount the RESOURCE folder as drive D: in DosBox, nothing changes, but if I mount the DATA folder as drive D:, it comes to a couple of error messages instead of the "Insert DIsk 1" prompt.

If someone owns the original CD-Version, would this someone mind to upload and share it with me? I don't think that's considered piracy, since I own the legal GOG-Version - now I just want to play what I payed for...
Never mind, I found a solution!

In the game folder is a folder named "support". In it, you will find, inside two further folders, one called "app". Inside are two DosBox config files that configure everything to start and run the game without CD request, as well as a sound configuration file and two more system files to deal with further problems.

After copying those files into the game's folder, SpyCraft started and ran as intended.

I hope this solution helps everybody who ran into the same issue.

Happy spying!
