Bought Spore yesterday and have an EA Account (Origin), but can't seem to create or log into a Spore account. What gives?
I think the site might just be busted right now. I already have an account from years ago but it's not connecting on my end.

You followed the instructions in the support article right? I did this yesterday, making a brand new account specifically for GOG version, and had no trouble.

Just make sure the Spore name you choose ingame matches whatever name you gave your account on the EA site. If you don't it likely won't realise they are the same account and will give you an error.

Support article reads:
1. Go to https://myaccount.ea.com/cp-ui/redemption/index, log with your EA data, redeem all three codes (you can find them under more -> serial keys). IMPORTANT! For base game, make sure to redeem actual game and not the Spore Community Access.
2. Run the game.
3. Choose "Register" and log in with your EA data.

I jumped through all the hoops and got registered and logged on, but it's not downloading any new content. Everything that's showing up in-game is by Maxis. It seems to be logging me out when I enter a game, even though I have 'keep me logged in' checked.

Is there a certain way I have to squint to get this to work?

Probably the only delight of playing the original was having all the other players' creations turn up in-game.
can someone please help!!!! i just got this game like yesterday tried to make a new account, but it keep saying " unknown error while connecting something something" can someone please tell me what to do.

It bears mentioning, though, that the option to view serial keys only works if you're looking at the game in your GOG library through a web browser, not the Galaxy client.
Hi i'm thinking of picking this up during the sale, however seeing this thread has confused me a little. Do i need to create an EA account to play the game? I thought the GOG version came with everything already?
No there's no need to do that, even with the CD version you can play it.
However if you want to use the features of the Spore Account you do need to register at EA, this is only because those features are internet related (cloud).

If you want to have thousands of user made creations there's no need to if you don't want it. There are user content collections available in packs. I could send you one if you want.

If I go to More --> Serial Keys, it simply says Serial keys depleted. Is this function no longer working?

EDIT: From the support article it looks like they are working on getting more keys added. I will wait.

Yes, same problem here. Hopefully they'll be agle to get some in the near future. I mean, I looked up if I would be able to use the online features after purchasing here, but it seemed to work. Now I'm a little sad that I have to wait. :(
My serial keys are showing up in my account now.
