Spellforce 2 and Dragon Storm were both awsome, but the 3'rd and 4'th expansions were crappy cash grabs.

Is this studio completely new, made up of the people who made the original spellforce 2 or is it the people who made the 3'rd and 4'th expansions?

It's Grimlore Games, a new studio without previous titles.

The creators of the original Spellforce and their expansions & Spellforce2 and Spellforce 2: Dragon Storm are Phenomic. This studio was bought by EA in 2006 and closed in 2013 (yep, another studio buried by EA). They "rebirth"(contains most of employees) as Envision Entertainment, and seem more focused on online games.

The developments of Spellforce 2: Faith in Destiny are Trine Games and Spellforce 2:Demons of the past are Mind Over Matter Studios. They are not involved in Spellforce 3.

I do not know what will happen with this new studio, but for now look promising, at least graphically.

Thanks for the info. :-)

I'm willing to wait and see what this new studio does.
I REALLY hope they make it like the original Spellforce 2 and with a completely customizable party, as well.

I dug up some additional info:

- Grimlore Games is a new developer, but it emerged from a shut down developer called Coreplay who also had their hq at munich, germany (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coreplay)

- according to german video games website 4players, members of Grimlore Games already worked on titles like Settlers 2, Knights and Merchants Cultures and Spellforce 2. My guess is they are mainly talking about Peter Ohlmann, technical director of Spellforce 2 (who has the same position for SF3)

-what we know is that the development team isnt that big and they are still looking for people
(http://grimloregames.com/jobs/)

I wonder why we havent heard frome the game since Gamescom '14, where they showed an early pre-alpha prototype. that was two and a half years ago...

I don't much care how long it takes the, as long as it's done right.
Hopefully it's just slow going cause the small # of people they've got.
Didn't realize Phenomic was another EA buyout. I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but it seems like they buy these companies out without intention of actually using their IPs or talent, but rather just to thin out the competition.
