Whenever I click on Internet Play to try and join my friend's game, I don't see a list of games and the top of the internet play interface says "Internet Play - Disconnected". I haven't done anything with the game yet (it is a fresh install) and I don't see any options where I can change my settings to connect to internet play. I bought this game solely for the purpose of being able to play with others through an online multiplayer platform. If it isn't possible for me to connect to internet play with the GOG version, I will be refunding my purchase.

EDIT: I also don't use GOG Galaxy and don't have any intention to ever start. Not sure if that affects anything.
