Could you please upload your crash dump file and your experience to here:

Thank you!
I've done that several times before. Nothing has happened so far. It obviously has nothing to do with my hardware. I'm only in the game for about ten seconds and then it crashes.
I can confirm this error. Always ending with crash to desktop. The game is unplayable as AMD 5700 XT user... please fix this!

I get the same error.

I have a Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT and the game crashes on the 1st mission shortly after the dialog between characters.

"The game is unplayable as AMD 5700 XT user..."
Can confirm
I also have a:
AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT

Game crashes as soon as you try to scroll the screen as soon as the initial gameplay starts for the very first mission.

Yes, submitted reports and dumps. (Purchased through a different online game distribution company, and had to request a refund as the game is completely unplayable, which is sad, I really wanted to play. It looked cool.
Thats what the logfile of Spellforce 3 says.

: error: Assertment failed!
Message: Failed to create vertex buffer (5312 bytes)

The problem seems to be a timeout when the game tries to identify the gfx device.

I reported this many times to the spellforce bug tracker and to AMD, no one seems to be accountable.

After some reasearching and even starting to get an understanding of the Microsoft Debugger for Windows 10, i got another idea.

The problem might be caused by a bug between the AMD RX57xx series and some sound device, might it be a head set or some onboard device.

I have a Realtek onboard chip, ALC887 with device drier version 6.0.8703.1 on DX12. I'm using a USB-Heaset with a C-MEDIA chipset too.

The Problem is an engine bug of the SpellForce 3 base game. All hardware seems to be effected of the RX5000 series (5500, 5600 or 5700) and even some of the NV GTX2000 series.

This problem was solved in the stand alone expansion Soul Harvest with an engine update there.
Sadly we don't know when this patch will reach the base game of SF3, but Soul Harvest will work for all of the people who have issues with the base game.
Came to add, not only affects AMD.

980ti here, same issue.

Only way to fix is to buy the expansion?

Update: Temp Fix, set cache assets to always and it seems to work, for now.
Update 2: And then it stops after about 20 mins.

The DGXI crash issues with Radeon 5700 XT seem to have been solved with the latest ATI video drivers.

Having recently updated my Radeon software/drivers to version 20.9.1 (released on 09/09/2020), I gave the game another try and it ran flawlessly. Not a single crash.
