So I took a quest in the first big "city" area where I have to observe several citizens at night. After following and watching about 2 disappear into nothing, I decided the point of the quest is to just run to all the houses at night and turn it in later, right? WRONG! I was supposed to see some of these people doing dastardly things and name guilt or innocence for each one.

Well obviously I can't do that - so does anyone here know who I should name and who I can "free" to complete the quest? I might just pass on turning it in if I can't get an answer, as it is optional - but in the interest of getting some tasty XP I thought I'd at least ask here. If you need a few more pointers to refresh your memory about this particular quest let me know! But the point is to give a yay or nay for a group of about 8 citizens, as to whether or not they're in a cult and I'd love it if you were able to let me know who to name!

Nevermind just found a bit of info and I guess it's random and varies by game :( Should have payed more attention to who was wearing a mask / had no name when I clicked

Mods you can delete this (or leave it up if others might find it useful - but I'd say delete)
*** SPOILER ***

This is the cult in Sevenkeeps? The persons to name are Turja, Haldor, Freja and Gunnar.

Yup that was the quest and thanks for the response but I had since found that it was random (well, maybe partially so - there might be "blocks" where the same 4 are guilty and 4 are innocent) - so each user will have a slightly altered group of innocent and guilty - it's not the same 4 X 4 array every time. Luckily I was able to cheat the quest, go back to an earlier save before I had payed a visit to each suspect and then reload my most recent to input the "right" group. A bit of cheating yes but at least it will teach me to pay a bit more attention to my later quests! ;)
I followed each character that went somewhere, and the only place they went was a field or a place where nothing happened. They just went there and immediately turned back and returned to their home...

Some just came out of their house and just stood there.

They all had masks and there was no way to tell if they are collaborating or not. Clicking on them gave no hint whatsoever.

The gameplay mechanics are really stupid - our characters can run along with the suspects, just stay near them all the time, they don't run away or hide, at least the mission should be cancelled when the suspect notices us...

The suspects are not the same, as pointed out in this thread, so the given answer does not work for me.

So I lost this mission... maybe next time.

Because this post is the first result on google when searching for a solution I will write down how I could solve this quest after I've already visited all the houses. If you go back to the houses of the suspects the ones which are innocent will still be standing near their houses. That's how I could conclude which ones are guilty. As far as I can tell there are always 4 innocent and 4 guilty people.
