What is the High Resolution Mod?
________________________________
The SF-HR Mod makes it possible to start and play the game in your natively used Desktop resolution with the exact same resolution being used and rendered ingame.

What ratios are supported?
________________________________
You will have no issues playing in the classic 4:3 and even 16:10 or 16:9 depending on your natively used resolution of your screen.

How does the Mod work?
________________________________
The mod is an own Game-Exe that overloads the native vanilla game exe of SpellForce without changing it, then starts the game in a sort of "windowed mode" but expands it in size and position to work and look like a fullscreen mode/game.

What version of SpellForce Platinum is supported?
________________________________
We only support 1.54 or 1.52 of SpellForce Platinum. other versions of the game may work too, but we can not cover for that.

Do i have to do anything special to use this mod?
________________________________
Please make sure that the exe is ALWAYS executed with admin permissions or it won't work correctly.

Is this mod compatible with other mods for SpellForce?
________________________________
Yes, thanks to the own exe solutions of this mod, all other adjustments to the game on the user side should not be effected and should be able to be mixed in.

Will it fix the missing healthbars ingame on modern GPU's?
________________________________
Yes, thanks to the implemented technolegy of Vulcan API, this issue should be solved for everyone with amazing performence, but is included as an optional solution.

Where can i download this mod?

Is this the same HR (High-Res) mod that was suggested back in December (2022)?
If so, then I already have it, and I have an issue with it.

The mod works great as such - HP bars works fine and even extreme resolutions are supported.

However, the camera zoom is based off of the resolution width, which on Surround screen setups makes the zoom level go way too close.

I asked this previously, but didn't receive any response: Is there a way to make the zoom levels be based off of resolution height instead? I actually wouldn't mind having a larger area visible for a more tactical overview.
Super Cool !! I'll try it ASAP, thanks !!

Its a newer version with a lot of improvements:

- improved render performence
- 100% fullscreen scaling (no litle line of the dektop anymore)
- removed the DGVoodoo2 watermark (its already enough we credit them in the setup)

Also the zoom can be adjusted with some console commands, but i still try to figgure out a way to auto apply them on game start based on the applied resolution.

Many thanks! I apparently was on the "1.0" version of the mod.

If SpellForce can be modded to support custom camera zoom levels - something I heard years ago "was impossible" - then that would be mind-blowing!

Never was an issue with my monitor setup back then, but with my current 3x 27" 1440p in Surround (for a 7680x1440 resolution / 48:9 aspect ratio) it would be so much fun to zoom way out for a tactical overview. :D

Again, truly appreciate the work that has been done here!

Yepp i got you a reply on this (gog does not allow that large file attachments):
https://forum.spellforce.info/viewtopic.php?p=168#p168

TLTR: the zoom can be adjusted, but the render distance starts to take action and low-res everything or lets objects/units simply vanish. I posted you some screenshots of it. (on the forum)
Hi everyone!

i know i sadly took my sweet time with this update, but the documentation and manual took more time then i was expecting (pretty colorfull pictures :-P).

But now the newest version is live and i say the improvements speak for themself. Please deliver us feedback on the new optional fonts and how the new render api Vulkan is running for you all (optional DX9 healthbar fix - but i should not say DX9 anymore, since its now Vulkan API, if this option is choosen).

You can find the new version as usual on the 1st post of this thread.

Known issues of version 1.8:
_____________________________
- the resolution does stretch after some cutscrenes but can be solved by just changing the ingame resolution to anyrhing else for a short time or restart the game after saving.
- the lifebar on your character profile is invisible if native resolution is applied
- font is super tiny if not the additional High resolution Font is installed

The HP fix doesn't work for hero or unit portraits at native resolution. It only shows up on screen, therefore making it difficult to keep up with the health status when you are using a lot of units.

I'm on Intel XE integrated GPU (I5-1135G7 CPU), maybe that's the issue ?

Game version is 1.54 and I chose the option to apply the DX9 render fix when installing the mod.

If I decrease the resolution the HP bars are back where they should be but my laptop is fast enough to run this game at native 1080p.

The unit preview picture does not render all information when having an active resolution of above 1280x1024 applied. That you can see any lifebars and manabars at all shows the fix is working.

I recommend to use the "classic resolution option windowed" or "classic resolution stretched" to have your needs covered.

like shown in the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83ta3TUxZR4

Also i highly recommend to use the spellforce forum next time and its thread where you got it from, since this was answered many times already if you would just read its thread: https://forum.spellforce.info/viewtopic.php?t=62

For me it does not allow for fullscreen. It is stuck in windowed mode even though I selected fullscreen during the installation.

And installing the new font also seems to turn the text white, making it near unreadable in some menus.

Well, that is an odd interaction. At least it is fullscreen now, but the text is still near unreadable in some menus.

You can configure the font-type you prefer the most (also see manual or forum thread).

I saw that, but it said nothing about font color.

The main issue is in the main menu and some of the other menus where the yellow font just blends into the buttons making it near unreadable. From what I can tell, the font in other places displays the correct color, but I am going to have to double check that. But the main menu is where i know for sure it is the wrong color.
