Hello everyone! In this post, I’ll guide you through the first minutes of Speedollama to help you get started and make the most of your experience. Some tips may seem obvious, but it's always good to review the basics of this fast-paced game!
1. Wall Cling
By default, the Wall Cling ability is set to manual. This means that to attach to a wall, you must hold the right bumper (R1 or RB) or the corresponding keyboard key. While holding the button, you will cling to walls, and releasing it will drop you. If you prefer, you can enable Auto Wall Cling in the options. With Auto Wall Cling activated, your character will automatically stick to walls when next to them, while holding the bumper will prevent attachment or drop you from the wall if you are already clinging.
2. Finishing Levels on Time
To open the exit gate, collect at least 75% of the blue crystals (or other stage-specific collectibles). If time is tight, focus more on collecting rather than fighting enemies—killing alpacas earns coins but can slow you down. Remember to use grenades when surrounded for a quick escape!
3. Map Awareness
The map is essential in this exploration-heavy game with procedurally generated levels. Check it often!
- Blinking red square: Your current location.
- Yellow dots: Collectibles (e.g., blue crystals in Stage 1).
- Big green rectangle: The exit.
- Purple areas: Unexplored rooms—head there to discover more.
4. Upgrades
Between levels or after a game-over, you’ll visit a shop to purchase upgrades. Choose upgrades that suit your playstyle and character. Sometimes it’s smarter to save coins for future rounds, aiming for better upgrades later on.
5. Boss Battles
Bosses may seem tough at first, but once you learn their patterns, they’ll be a breeze. Always keep shooting—even holding the fire button constantly is fair game. Don’t hesitate—just blast away!
Final Tips
Your experience will improve based on your skill and how quickly you adapt to the game’s mechanics. If possible, play with a controller—Speedollama supports all controllers, including Xbox and PlayStation, ensuring a smooth experience.
If you run into any trouble or have questions, feel free to post here on the community hub. Good luck and have fun!
EDIT! IMPORTANT NOTE:
I just got the info that achievements aren't triggered due to a wrong user sign-in via GOG. (Someone from GOG's team forgot to tell me this weeks ago when I sent my built... sic) I'm working on a patch, I'll release it in 1-2 days (most probably tomorrow), sorry if this causes you some frustration! (it's causing it to me a lot!)
