I have had this for a long time and every time I come back it says the same thing? Is there an update? It always says flight sim is still in alpha stage..... somebody throw me a bone...is it abandoned or what? Crappy devs???? I want my money back!! This sucks..

Yes, this program is still in development, not abandoned at all. Communications happen mostly using several social networks, see https://spaceengine.org.

There were several updates after the first GOG version, in sync with other distribution platforms. But it's correct, the flight simulation part didn't have new features since the start, mainly occasional bug fixed. Regarding the engine, developers right now are porting the code from OpenGL to Vulkan, in order to continue, and boost, development.
The flight simulation part will absolutely receive some love when the engine will finally support needed features for it.
I believe GOG has a 30 days refund policy after purchase, according GOG support center.
