I never looked much at the game since everybody said it was a clone of FTL, "but worse". However, in the end I decided to buy it and boy! I agree, it's great so far. It's also more different from FTL than I was expecting, and in a good way. I love the fact that there's no time pressure here and no fuel limitations, and you can basically play through different scenarios, do missions, and so forth.
So yeah, it's like FTL, but I'd say it's also better than FTL. There's room in this world for both games, though.
The only downside is the occasional bug: I've had a few games where my captain decided to walk through the ship's hull and into space, never to be seen again. It was easily resolved by quiting the game and then loading it up again, so no real harm done.
