Has anyone installed the downloadable version of Space Rangers 2: Reboot from Amazon? If so, any problems or procedures to get it working? I've seen that the version on Impulse works with the GOG Dominators version, so I was hoping if the Amazon version is DRM free I would try installing it. Also, are games from Amazon DRM free like they are here on GOG?

I have not, but Reboot (I bought the DVD version from Half Price Books) solved the problems in GOGs vanilla SR2 that prevented it from working on my system.

Not to scare you away from the title at all, but here is a thread describing a problem with GOGs version: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/space_rangers/i_cant_play_sr2/page2. As I say, Reboot completely fixed that for me.
I purchased the GOG version when they had the sale on 1C games last week (or maybe it's been 2 weeks). I haven't had the difficulties mentioned the thread linked above.

Anyway, I'm really enjoying the game and was considering purchasing the expansion version of Reboot. I did see in another thread someone linked to the Amazon version. I may just pay the $6 and see if it is compatible with the GOG version. If I do, I'll report back.

One more question, do you have to start a new game after installing the expansion or can I continue with the game I started in Dominators?
It doesn't look like the Reboot game on Amazon is an expansion to Dominators since it's actually larger than the full GOG version of Dominators; it looks like their Reboot is a stand-alone game. In other words, you shouldn't need Dominators installed to play Reboot since you're not adding on to the Dominators installation. When I installed my DVD version of Reboot, I put it in a completely different location on the hard drive, and it never asked for the location of Dominators.

Which begs the question: why do I still have Dominators installed if it doesn't work for me?

Whether or not the save games transfer over... I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if they work just fine.

Edit: I uninstalled Dominators and Reboot works just fine without it.

Reboot is actually standalone, not an expansion. Was some kind of overhaul of the game, new quests, some fixes, advanced settings, and so.
As for the savegames, I dunno. Never kept my old saves from that game :P
If I recall correctly, there is SR2: Reboot and SR2: Reloaded.

One of them (probably Reboot) is an expandalone that is available just about everywhere.
The other (probably Reloaded) is an actual expansion that is only really available (in English) from some distributors. This one needs the core SR2

Both contain the same contents when installed.
I don't understand why they aren't in GOG already.

Reloaded is the base game
Reboot is the expansion (Standalone in most cases as far as I know, my Steam version is, so is the GG one despite saying it wasn't a while ago)
Revolution is an 'expansion' that was only ever released in Russia but they didn't have the money to translate it to English. There was community translation thing but it did introduce some crashes sadly.

However, no fear, they're making a Space Rangers HD version which I assume will include all of the above + widescreen patch. Should be out end of the year!
