Morning All,

I've installed SR2 on my Win7x64 laptop and when I run it the screen goes black for a few seconds (as if it's changing resolution) and then stops working and I get the following error (I turned on debug in the config)

HResult = 2289435059 Str= DDERR_CANTLOCKSURFACE

I've tried the following remedies:

Installed into a different directory
Run as Admin
Comparability mode Win 98, XP (Sr 2 & 3)
Edited the CFG file and switched between R1, R2, changed the refresh rate, turned off the shadows, manually put the resolution to 800

Anyone have any ideas? Been trying for a while!

Try (re)updating your graphic card drivers and DirectX. Also, it will be advisable to check the game's video card compatibility, that could be the issue. Or, maybe you can adjust the card settings for the game the same as for the desktop.
