I have a problem with the game. The problem is that when I turn on the game's only black screen and sound works. In the menu it goes well. I tried to change the CGF. R1 = R2 video it too does not work. I think that the problem will have either a Windows x64 and Windows 7 or graphics card, graphics nvidia gt525 mam and also in the core of integrated graphics processor and even working on one. Drivers are all updated. If someone will know what I really like; indeed. Thanks
You are using a laptop? What is your screen resolution?

The R1 and R2 settings in the config file change the resolution of the game, either to 1024x768 or 800x600. Some laptop screens are low resolution and can't display 1024x768, so switching the resolution to 800x600 helps. However, you said that this doesn't work... are you actually able to edit the file? If UAC is enabled, this can prevent you from editing the file. Disable it and try again. If you ARE able to edit the file, but it doesn't fix the problem in the game, then you have another issue.

Can you manually set your screen resolution in Windows to be 1024x768? Or 800x600? If you can't, then you will have to find a way to force your laptop to display lower resolutions. This is possible sometimes in certain system settings.
I tried to switch the resolution but it did not help. I think the problem is with my graphics card, but all my drivers updated and integrated graphics, the game also does not work so I was wondering if there's any patch, but probably not. If you would about any patch knew so write. Or, if you know of any other solution to this problem so I also write.

A lot of people have this problem, so I'm not sure if it's your graphics card or some other issue. When yo usay that you tried to switch resolution, do you mean changing R2 to R1 in the cfg file? Were you able to save the file after making that edit? Sometimes Windows security prevents you from editing the file.

Or, did you mean you changed your actual screen resolution? If you haven't tried that yet, I would try it. The black screen problem seems to be resolution-related for most people.

Yes, I changed the video mode on the R1 but it did not solve the problem. But I realized that when I will the game to boot menu and then jump into Windows and then back into the game menu appears, but the screen stops and does not go. This can be done after each step, but the screen will stop: (. Perhaps this information will tell you what the same time, could be. And thanks for your help.

Interesting. What operating system are you using? Have you tried running the game as administrator?

Yes it is very interesting. I use windows 7 64 bit and yes i tried start game as administrator but this not help .
Well, I'm not sure what else to suggest, except this:

In Windows, change your screen resolution to 1024x768. Does this work? If not, what happens?

I'm worried that your graphics card has a problem displaying that resolution.

I have exactly the same problem...
I played for my first time 4 hours today using the "High Performance" battery profile on my laptop. Later I switched this profile to "Balanced" which resulted in a black screen when I tried playing Space Ranger 2 again. I could hear the music, the sounds, and the intro video also played but I could see nothing but the 3D cursor in the main menu. Fortunately switching back to the "High Performance" battery profile made it work again. :)

Could the same be the case for you? If you are on a laptop, what battery profile are you using? I recommend you to try out the High Performance profile and see if that fixes your problem.

Using a HP Probook 4520s with an Intel HD Graphics card (well, chip I guess) in case anyone wonder..

That worked great for me. I'm also using a laptop with Intel integrated graphics. This worked great for both Space Rangers 1 and 2. Now I just have to try to figure how to play the damn game. /lost haha.
Worked for me as well. Thanks!

Glad I could help out! Heh, it has taken me lots of time too - I still feel like a complete new beginner to SR2 even though I've spent many hours on that game already. I really like the robot fighting aspect of the game but I have only tried it once during the introduction (i.e. my first "mission"). Oh well, at least I have something looking forward to :)
