I used to have space rangers:2 and loved it but I now only have a windows 7 x64 bit machine. With all the problems it has plus the developer itself saying the game wont work on 7.IS the risk worth it? Have the majority of you windows 7 users had problems or is it just the minority.

The problem is supposed to have been caused by the game using starforce DRM but gog.com supposedly removes all DRM. is this true?

Honestly, I've had no trouble on my machine (Win7, 64-bit). No one can get the intro video to load, but that's no big deal to me. I have all of the other features working just fine (RTS, hyperspace, ect.).

So if it's any help... here's one WIn7 rig that is okay. Now we'll just see when I put my new video card in if that throws a wrench in the works :)

Works here as well (win7 64bit). I also have the problem that the videos don't play, tried on different computers with different OS (Vista and 7) and could never get the videos to work. The rest of the game works very well, so I think it is worth buying. The videos are only used for the intro and ending and there's a method to watch them in Media Player Classic described somewhere on the forum, so you're not losing out on anything.
FWIW, can't get the videos playing on my wife's Win7 laptop, but video plays fine on my Vista 64 machine.
Just want to add that I'm using the SR2 Resolution Patch 1.3 with both machines- http://starmind.3dn.ru/rangers_progs.html

I put SR2 on my dads win7 laptop, works fine except for the into video is a black screen with an error message, the audio still plays though. I just hit escape to skip the video and its smooth sailing after that. I havent beat the game yet, but so far so good
