i definitely would like to get the SQ1 VGA edition along with the package. If the QFG collection can have both EGA and VGA editions of QFG1, why not the other Sierra collections also?

On a side note, just to confirm, was SWAT3 a Sierra game? I am sure it was, and for me that was pretty much the best of the SWAT series. a Shame it is not in the Sierra summer collection.

I doubt it has anything to do with 'rights' issue at least not in 'lost rights limbo type thing', considering just about every other digital online service carries the collections with the VGA/sci versions, but their versions lack the AGI versions, and those are all through Activision (just as it is here).

As I understand many of the uploaded games are extras are based on versions that one of the owners of GOG has in their collection or that they found on other sites (the game producers/owners may not necessarily distribute versions to them). They have rights to then upload those games. In other cases the game producers/owners distribute versions to GOG for them to use. It may be somewhere that either GOG doesn't have copies of the vga version in order to upload it into the collection, or Activision didn't have copies to give to GOG.

Steam versions are just a repackaged copy of the old Vivendi Studios 2006 collections btw. All the same issues, and even outdated version of KQ7 in the KQ collection.

Everyone should vote for this one on the community wishlist if they haven't already.

I just wrote about this in an entirely different thread, so I decided to see if there's something on the subject in the SQ-subforum.

Yeah, it really is a shame that the VGA version isn't included. At an asking price of 20 buckazoids, the least you could expect is for your collection to be complete. Since GOG did such a formidable job with the Codemasters-owned Larry-IP (which includes all the various EGA, VGA, SVGA, talkie and non-talkie versions), I never had any doubts as to who is to blame for this and I sincerely hope that GOG will go bug Activision about it until those guys give in and give us the VGA versions which should have been included in the first place.

I bought this assuming it had SQ1 VGA. I was disappointed that it didn't. I knew the box set came with SQ1 VGA (I had it a while back and lost it when I moved), so I thought this was just a digital download version of the box set. Oh well... =(

There is no perfect digital release of this game. Steam has the last box release with remake, but no original.

This site has the original but no remake.

The VGA remake are free to download, but I'd by them (with classic versions included) if GOG offered them.

Actually the VGA remake is not free to download. It's sold legally on Steam. But if you find it anywhere else its being hosted illegally.

Has anyone tried to contact the new Sierra asking them kindly about adding the various wanted remakes and alternate releases put into their GOG, and Steam sets? Maybe through their new face book page?
They are both great, each in their own way. Some people swear by the original, some people prefer the remake. But there is no substantial strengths or weaknesses in either. The only thing that might be an improvement in the remake is the 'magnet' that allows you to cheat the Slots of Death sequence. Which can be a pain in the original.

Overall, I prefer the originals. I preferred to enter the commands vs the point/click system. I would imagine, nowadays, that people prefer the point/click interface. So it's really a matter of preference. But I do agree, I loved that you could use the magnet in SQ1 when you played the slots!

I kinda of like the remake more for one reason, the text was more detailed, more descriptions, more actions to do via the 'lick', 'look' etc. There was maybe 4 times the amount of text in game.

I thought I saw infamous adventures remake it and release it for free, guess this was my mistake - I wasn't trying to push a pirate site. If the remake is on steam, wish I would also see it here on GOG.
