Has no one else had problems starting this up on their map? I've tried everything and the game just won't start.

The only explanation I can come up with is that GOG is giving me the Windows version instead of the Mac version.

Even if you did the OP doesn't give any pertinent information about his Mac.

I second this idea.
I was going to save contacting GOG's support as a last resort, but I think I'll go on ahead and do it.

Thank you for the advice, I'll be back if I receive a solution :)

I believe I found the the solution, I am running these games on my 27" iMac 10.8 OSX

Applications > Space Colony HD > Show Package Contents > Double Click Wineskin.app > Set Screen Options > Uncheck "Use Mac Driver instead of X11" > Done > Quit

Run the Game > (Once loaded) Cmd+Opt+A

I am able to play the game now :-)

It worked! Thank you very much :D

Btw, I contacted Gog a while ago concerning SCHD, but for some reason it wouldn't submit my help form. Considering I now have it fixed though its a moot point.

I am running Mac OS X 10.11.3 The Game will not start. The first time I tried to launch the game a small widow from wine showed up and disappeared seconds later. The second time I tried to launch the game, the application symbol from "Space Colony HD" appeared and disappeared in the dock of my Mac without any window showing up on the desktop. I searched on the internet an attempted the following solution: Applications > Space Colony HD > Show Package Contents > Double Click Wineskin.app > Set Screen Options > Uncheck "Use Mac Driver instead of X11" > Done > Quit

That brought me a little bit further but the Game still does not launch properly. If I try to lunch it now I get a black screen with a little logo in the upper right corner. That stays about 5 to 7 seconds and then I am back on the desktop. If I touch the little logo with my mouse my mouse becomes a cross, that is all. I apologize for the bad englisch, I am from Germany wich makes this a lot harder then it is already.

I have the same problem. See my posts under https://www.gog.com/forum/space_colony_hd/cant_start_space_colony_on_osx

I was able to submit my logs and info and will post there if I receive any response.

Hello

I'm facing the same issus and I do not have even Wineapps when I try to open the package ??? Di you get anything since this post ?

Mikaël
Hi I have a mid 2012 macbook air (8Gb ram, 2 GHz Intel Core i7, OS 10.11.6) and I too get nothing when trying to launch Space Colony from either Gog Galaxy or the Apps folder. When opening the package I also do not find wineskin.app. Any kind of help welcome.

Maybe I should start a new discussion as it seems this one is considered "solved"?
I follow the instructions of showing package contents but dont see any wineskin.app file....

Game doesnt load for me.
I got the game working by downloading the latest Winery at http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php?page=Downloads.

Run the Winery and update to the latest engine and wrapper versions.

The package location is now different from above. It can be found here...

Applications > (right-click) Space Colony HD > Show Package Contents > Contents > Resources > game > (right-click) Space Colony HD > Show Package Contents > Wineskin

Double-click the Wineskin file and (instead of changing the DX11 setting above) go to Advanced / Tools Tab / Change Engine Used. Select the latest engine that you downloaded and click Ok.

You should now be good to go.

Thank you! This allowed me to play the game. I tried the trick earlier in the thread about unticking the Mac driver box but that only got me to a black screen with a little icon in the upper left corner. Your method fixed everything.

Appreciate it!
The game don't start on my Mac, I'm on macOS Mojave, I went on :

Applications > (right-click) Space Colony HD > Show Package Contents > Contents > Resources > game > (right-click) Space Colony HD > Show Package Contents > Wineskin

Double-click the Wineskin file and go to Advanced / Tools Tab / Change Engine Used. Select the latest engine that you downloaded and click Ok.

But the game doesn't start

I have the same issue - I just purchased Space Colony for Mac on GOG and the game won't start. I didn't have Wineskin initially and so was able to download the app and follow the initial instructions other users provided for resolving things. However, I'm not getting any options in Wineskin for choosing other drivers (or even entering the driver I downloaded). I was able to uncheck 'use the Mac driver setting' suggested up top, but couldn't complete the fix in Wineskin. :( App icon now shows up when double clicking but still not able to play.
