>>Past Malarkey<<

I've been through a lot with this game and I have done more research than I care to. Firstly, I encountered issues with Direct X7 compatibility with my AMD Catalyst Control Center (11.4 or below, for anyone reading this, is the maximum version of the CCC driver that works in DX7 for Soulbringer). After that, at the first cut scene (where Barthelago first greets you) my game crashed (and yes it was a recurrent problem). Considering the infuriating time invested into this game, I just wanted to play so I switched over to Direct X6 disappointingly. Furthermore, after a little digging, I found out that the T&L compatibility could be causing issues considering the specialty hardware utilized at the time. So DX7 was out of the question, yet I tried to overcome these technical quirks and play the game (many thanks to timeslip for his timely advice in countless forum posts and miscellaneous contributions). I encountered a point in the game where you first acquire access to the hex and thereby Area Of Effect (AOE) spells, and seeing the Church Ruins with the Ra'al special appearance, I couldn't help but use them (Fireball and Shards namely). But after the process of killing them, I noticed an insipid "Experience Gained x50" text overlay that refused to change despite voluminous opportunities (i.e., Picking up items, killing enemies, reading signs, et cetera). After saving, closing the game, and restarting, I found that each action performed proceeded to show sequentially ending with the dreaded "Experience Gained x50". This problem refuses all attempts to be rectified, and having almost beaten the game at this point, I don't truly see the Crux (pun intended) of this issue being resolved.

Unfortunately for me, I LITERALLY took a wrong turn and this game-breaking decision cost me approximately 75 hours of time from my life. In the area of Galdon Thor after vanquishing Lilith the Ice Queen (the Dark Hex areas), I turned right in the room where the lizard sorcerers cast all manner of magicks targeted towards you. I find a teleport area upon breaching the entrance to the newly unlocked door on the right and step into it. This sent me to the Palace of Souls wherein I found to my dismay that there was no possible way to reach the Dark Hex location without having accessed the Hex stone therein. I've been messing around with the scripts to see if I could either retrigger the cutscene with the Ice Queen or alter the Mires Pit Hexstone to teleport me into the Dark Hex Hexstone. Neither method has proved fruitful. I have considered trying to enable the infamous, fabled developer's console of which should be enabled with the notorious key "/" however has never successfully worked for most. The grievance that irks me most is the fact that this mythical console should exist according to this developer's commentary I found in the demo.s script file:

"// NOTE ABOUT RUNNING THESE DEMOS
//
// All these demos can be run from the console by typing >demo <name>
// eg
// > demo ferry
// > demo talkbart
//
// However, since these demos clear all the flags which have been set
// I can make no guarantees about the state of the rest of the game."
