posting this as a new topic as not to give people false hopes in the "crashing" topic
i am now trying it at a different pc, windows vista 32 bit as opposed to windows 7 64 bit.
still crashing, usually when talking (or trying) or entering new areas, a weird sidenote is that it has not crashed a single time since entering the mines..may be freak luck though.
this is a great game and i would love to see it revived ! running at comp. mode xp sp2 ,no visual themes, disabled desktop composition and administrator mode. anything else one can try ? we can't just give up, we payed after all.
Sure it's being worked on. I've already said I wouldn't leave it alone while there were improvements I could make. ;)

afaik most of the more easily reproducible crashes should have been fixed last week. There should be a further update at some point fairly soon, which will hopefully improve things further.
i bow to your commitment kind sir !

it's just that i don't see any updates on the gog site, probably due to me being stupid-,- i have downloaded the installer and done a fresh install again yesturday btw :) where are the updates then, or is it your solo project and are waitng till you are happy with your work ? :)

thx for your reply !

oh and will old save files be compatible, or is that a slim chance ? finished the mines, yay !

I don't know when the new update will show, but the installer will be updated at some point.

Yes, all old saves will be compatible.
Timeslip,

First of all, thank you for making the effort to get this game working in new OSes. I'm sure it's quite a pain sometimes :(

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

Not to be a pest, but when I start a game I tend to "get into it" and have found myself stuck at the Temple of Shadows because it crashes every few seconds :( I've pushed on to Shadow Pass and I guess I can continue there for awhile as I can fight most of the mercs with little to no damage, but I'd really like to get the Hex for the fast travel so I can sell all this loot I'm gathering...plus for the other Hex benefits of course (SP regen anyone?).

So, could you please let me know a reasonable time frame in which you think you might be able to get the crashing issues resolved? I just bought this a few days ago, so I assume the "reproducible" crashes you speak of that have been fixed should be in the latest build? I'm not sure how to get newer gog builds if there are such a thing as I have yet to have any games crash so badly on me.

Please enlighten me :)

Thanks again for all your effort!

The installer was updated today.
For those that don't want to redownload the whole game again, necessary files should be uploaded shortly.

EDIT: files can be found here: http://files.gog.com/support/soulbringer_patch_v2.zip
