Has anyone bought the game from DotEmu before it was released here? I noticed it's actually a bit cheaper over there, but is it true that it does not include the manual, as some 'reviewer' wrote on DotEmu's game page?

Do you think there are any other differences (besides the GOG version also providing the soundtrack)? Or is the GOG version actually the same one already sold on DotEmu?

I wouldn't get my hopes up that the one from DotEmu is any better. It's even possible that it's based on the same version (GOG has several games that appeared on DotEmu first and I suspect they might sometimes collaborate). But it would certainly be of help to hear from someone who's familiar with the DotEmu version.

Bought from DotEmu last year. Version 1.1, the download comes in one file and it is 819mb. It does not contain any extras so no manual or soundtrack. I don't have the GOG version so I can't compare. It runs/plays with no issues. I suspect that it is exactly the same version.

Thanks! No manual, that sucks. Especially since I read that it's vital to study it before playing. :/

TBH... I've read the manual and there's nothing in there that's vital.

@dnoelsmith If there are no issues with it and it's completable then I'd be very surprised to hear that it was the same version.

@Tormentfan, good point. I should be more clear on my experience. I had no issue starting the DotEmu version up and playing it for about a half hour. Issues further into the game I'm not aware. My suspicion on the sameness of versions remain just that...a suspicion. Thanks.

It's after a couple of hours that the GOG version starts to have trouble.. fires up fine and initially look ok.
If you crash in one, you'll crash in the other. At least, I do.

I bought the Dotemu version some time ago, I had trouble with it starting. I just bought Soulbringer here, thinking "well, maybe they did something to fix the game". Wrong! I still crash at startup in this version as the Dotemu one.

So as far as my computer is concerned, they're the same version since neither even start up.

Though for some facts, Dotemu and gog do indeed have different versions of some games: some are patched, some are not(I own several so I know). Like Postal, for example.
I can tell you the DotEMU version is not compatible out of the box with Win 8 x64. It also made my mouse act crazy and not function properly until I uninstalled it.
