Started playing Soldier of Fortune 2 about a week ago and finished last night. When I started playing, the game audio was cutting out every 2 words in the intro like Mullins was doing a cryptic monologue of redacted words in the subtitles.

Anyways, I essentially found an undocumented fix for SOF2 specifically, which is the same fix used on SOF1 for restoring Surround Sound.

If you search and go to PCGamingWiki Soldier of Fortune and scroll to the Audio section youll come across a link (below) for DirectSound.

Grab the DirectSound and add that to the directory with sof2.exe

if you still have the skip or stutter, or even sometimes matrix low bit white noise sound (which I had even though the skipping was gone)

grab the "dsoal" and do the same as directsound leaving them both in there and overwriting the dsound.dll that was dropped in by DirectSound.

Sound should be fixed. Was for me the entire game.

Both IndirectSound and DSOAL have a file name dsound.dll, how do you use them both together as you described in your post ?

Alright that did the trick, I don't know if it changed anything, I think the voice acting doesn't suffer from that weird pop noise issue I had, the music still does a bit though. Damn I didn't remember having any issue with sound a few years ago, aside from the known ones with 48khz mode. 44khz used to work flawlessly

Its an issue with Microsoft's Updates. They created a Audio Driver problem within a couple of their KB SU's a little over a year ago.
