A big announcement was posted a week ago on Steam. From a player's perspective, here's the most important part:
> we have decided to end Snowtopia after the full release and let it continue its life, in your hands. It means we won't push DLCs or free updates after Feb 2022 and we will focus ourself on polishing 1.0. ... This means throwing away a huge amount of work, but to develop new features would require another two years of development.
The full announcement is at https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1124260/view/5612046175796459896 . In response to negative comments, the publishers replied:
> Sorry for the misunderstanding. The devs didn't give up the early access, they only annonce they won't do free updates / DLCs after the 1.0.
>
> They will continue to polish and focus on deliver the best experience possible for the 1.0.
>
> We are working to allow modders on the game to continue on alternative branchs on Steam!
In response to a question about whether that means the future of the game will be limited to the Steam Workshop, one of the modders replied:
> Tbh a steam workshop won't rlly be needed we have a modding wiki with downloads and guides already. In the past a workshop would have been nice but weve worked our way round all the limitations amd i feel there are more important things the devs should focus on
Quite a lot of the announcement is about the developers' mental health, so I can understand them only publishing the announcement on one platform. I'm less impressed with Goblinz Publishing, who despite reminders on Discord haven't posted here.
