So far, I've ran up The Last Blade and Samurai Shodown V Special. The Last Blade ran moderately well, only experiencing noticeable issues with the shading between two layers. SSVS on the other hand ran like hot garbage with skipped frames, accompanied by distorted audio. I could make these roms run by tweeking them with existing non-proprietary emulators, but I would figure the main point in purchasing these would be to not have to worry about that in the first place...

The DotEMU thing is really hit or miss, like Metal Slug X runs fine, the rest run like trash. I really feel like this is a botched release since you're 100% right, using a different emulator and just getting the ROMs seems like the better option.

King of the Monsters is also unplayable it runs unplayably fast

Super FAST is being kind. This game is HORRIBLY messed up. It would give a non-epeleptic a seizure with the hyper-fast, terrib le sounding HYPER OVERDRIVER speed it is running in. It was free, or cheap I forget, but I just want 1 option to work. Remove from my list? lol Sorry guys. Love GOG, but this is worse than bad. :o

Even better, I would have bought the Arcade Archives versions by Hamster Corporation as they are well-done and heavily customizable in my opinion. In fact, the emulation is arcade perfect, in a way.

Unfortunately, some of them are on PC (via the Windows Store) while the rest (and those I mention indirectly) are for consoles. Fortunately, since I have a Nintendo Switch, that means all of the Arcade Archive ports are at my disposal and I'm able to purchase them at a whim (despite the price). It's a shame that GOG never used the ACA NeoGeo ones for their releases instead of the DotEmu versions. It would have been so much better.
