I'm new the the series and I have no idea what I'm doing, the game doesn't come with a manual so I am pretty lost and any information i can get would be helpful.

Also why does the game say "select 1p or 2p play" without an indicator or anything allowing you to select 1 or 2 player?

Also is it possible to play with a gamepad instead of the keyboard?

Yes you can use a dpad to play this game. I use an arcade stick and just works fine.
