it's safe to say that it's a software problem 100%, since even the shitty laptop can play 3D games up to 2009 at reasonable settings and 60fps at native resolution.

"You did bad, and you should feel bad."
There's zero excuse for it to hit deadlocks or other blocks that I'm experiencing in Metal Slug 1, 2, 3, and X. What the hell did I pay for?
There is zero excuse for this. Stop defending it. Programming is not magic.
So here I am, trying it in MAME, and they're using such an ancient version of the NEOGEO BIOS, MAME won't even run it. GREAT JOB GUYS. Did you spend a whole week on this release?
When these machines where brand new, the rage of the moment they did have slooow downs. Those slow downs are present both in the MVS and AES boards and you will find them in the same spot you do in these release.
The only way to remove those slow down is in MAME overclocking the cpu to 200%
About bios, you are so wrong... MAME runs all the bios from NEOGEO. The bios and rom you get with this release are just not compatible, not even in the same format..
Some releases of arcade games sometimes come with the roms in a format that mame can work with. For example Mortal Kombat Kollection. This is not the case....
