Not sure how to get a battleship since there's no option to board ever, even with the boarding cargo bay. Also anyway to get Carriers in the vanilla game?

As a trader, you aren't able to board, hence you can't get a Battleship. Only Pirates, Bounty Hunters and Fleet Commanders can capture one.

Yeah, it's a bit of a bummer, that traders are locked out of Battleships.
