Hi everyone, this is an update of a previous post made on Slave Zero with Vulkan. I see on Slave Zero GOG forum that people are reporting performance issues with Slave Zero, especially with FPS drops in the Sewer levels on the game. I tried the Direct3D Patch and Peixoto's Patch. Those didn't work for me.

All you have to do is download the latest dgVoodoo2 archive (version 2.83.2 at time of posting) and then unzip it.

Here's the link:
https://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2/

After unzipping the archive open the dgVoodoo2 folder. In the folder you will see a '3dfx' folder and a executable named 'dgVoodooCpl.'

We'll come back to the executable later, first open the '3dfx' folder,. You will see another folder named 'x86', then open that folder. You will see three different DLLs and a 'Napalm' folder. Copy all those DLLs and the 'Napalm" folder to your Slave Zero installation folder.

This is usually located here if Slave Zero was installed with the offline installer:
C:\GOG Games\Slave Zero

If you installed it via the GOG Galaxy Client it should be located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Slave Zero

Paste the copied files into the main directory, overwriting any files.

Now we go back to the executable from earlier. Copy only the "dgVoodooCpl' executable and paste it where you pasted the previous DLLs and 'Napalm' folder.

After pasting the executable open it. The next step is important. Right below the dgVoodoo logo on the right hand side you will see a small button that looks like a full stop and a backslash: Like this --> .\

Click on it. This will set the storage of the dgVoodoo config file to the folder where Slave Zero is located.

Almost done, now navigate to the Glide tab. Under the Miscellaneous section, bottom left you will see an option that says 3Dfx Watermark, unpick that and click apply. Optionally if you want to display the iconic 3Dfx logo at the start of the game, there is an option right next to that. Tick it if needed and click apply. When finished click OK.

Now we are ready to launch the game normally either by the desktop shortcut or via GOG Galaxy.

Side note:

This solution seems more stable than my previous guide on how to run Slave Zero in Vulkan. I wanted to delete my previous guide but I decided to keep it there just for reference.
