I played for 2 hours then the game just started crashing on start and it won't work. It says quit unexpectedly. I am fuming.

Can you give us any additional information? See https://sixages.com/resources/ for the best way to report bugs.

There is a reasonable chance that you ran into a bug sending caravans, which will be fixed in the next build (which I hope to get up this week). If so, you may be able to restore to the end of an earlier year and continue.
