korell: Don't know what you mean about "3dfxgl" and "3dfxglcd" though.
Those were the other two related dll's in the Sin Gold folder.

Ah, I see. 3dfxgl.dll and 3dfxglicd.dll. They must be two of SiN's files. They aren't nGlide.

Ghostbreed: This will make the game work more pleasent, yes?
Well, for me personally, running it in 3DFX mode is the best option as I can force higher resolutions and you get the 3DFX effects. But not all machines get on well with nGlide or some of its versions. As such, it may be necessary to replace the version of nGlide provided in the GOG installation with the latest one. For others, they disable 3DFX mode to get away from using nGlide and instead go with OpenGL which is where you then need the Extension Limit fix if you use nvidia graphics drivers.

And I have Intel HD Graphics instead NVidia - and game still crashes on Default OpenGL

Pfuiteufel: For your custom resolution use sinpatcher, its easy to use!

And in game choose Default Opengl as renderer. Dont forget the advanced options... at the buttom for eyecandy!

The game looks still pretty to me :)

If Opengl crashes and you have a NVIDIA card, download NVIDIA Inspector, make/change profile for SiN, add the game's .exe file and enable the "Extension limit" option, it should fix the problem, (worked for me this way).

I find GLIDE3-to-OpenGL-Wrapper very interesting and work perfectly. Link to http://www.svenswrapper.de/english//url]http://www.svenswrapper.de/english/]http://www.svenswrapper.de/english//url]
Yes, OpenGL renderer looks best for this game, it has an interesting "raw" look to it, the original intended look designed by the artists.

Here is a backup of my config files and DLL's needed to make it work on modern systems:

Also, my config comes with console variables set up to make environments a bit more lit up for better visibility and it comes with keyboard bindings for turning FullBright On/Off (if I remember correctly it was the period and comma keys)

(no game assets or data in any of these archives, it's mostly CFG and INI files, no piracy content here)

MihaiHornet: You can't set the video resolution from the game menu. Leave 3dfx selected as it is by default and use nglide_config.exe (which is in the same folder with sin.exe) to set the resolution and other video options .

NOTE: No matter what the real video resolution is, the game menu will show 640x480.
So THAT'S why I thought config never worked... Man and I was fiddling with DgVoodoo for nothing lol.
Thanks!
i found that renaming the exe to quake2.exe also works.. tested on nvidia graohics with default opengl, no need for other utilities
