Hello, I just purchased SiN Gold and found myself having an almost painful problem with the game. Shortly after I found a solution when trying to fix another issue.
I could not see an existing thread on the matter so thought I would post it here in case anyone else ever comes looking for help specifically related to sound problems.
Problem: When using certain display resolutions the noise that is played when text is being 'printed' on screen will be ridiculously loud. For me it was insanely loud to the point of hurting my ears. This noise occurs on the main menu and during cutscenes in game. Resolutions affected can be either ones above 1024x768 available in the unmodified game, or higher ones enabled with nGlide tool or SinPatcher.
Solution: Press tilde to open the console (key next the the left of your 1 key). Type the following:
set cl_maxfps 60
This is the same solution offered to those experiencing the laggy / glitchy performance and rubber banding when using a widescreen resolution.
I believe this will set your max framerate to 60. If you want to play with a higher refresh you are welcome to experiment with that number. On my system anything above 100 caused both the sound and glitch issues to reoccur.
