A glide wrapper was the perfect solution for the visuals because you could run the game at the default 640x480 but have the glide wrapper upscale to 1080. Using this method the menus and stuff would be full screen and the in-game graphics would be sharp. After the new updates the game doesn't see the glide wrapper anymore..
3Dfx support (and therefore, the usage of nGlide) has been killed in the Nightdive update.
I know there's a lot of people that will miss it, but I'm super happy about the proper widescreen support with no need of weird patches and problems about the FOV. Even the computers in-game can be used, since now you can see the bottom part of their screens.
Full screen menus are nice, but you only use them to configure the game, something that is not as common as playing it :)
