How can you change the music and speech volumes? The music is drowning everything else.

If I remember correctly (I haven't played the game for a while, but I have it on original CD) you can turn the music on and off by pressing M and you can adjust the music level with + and - keys.
With T you can switch between talkie and text versions. S turns sound effects on and off and B turns background sounds on and off.
