I just bought Simcity 3000 unlimited for my Windows 7 laptop, and it installs just fine, but whenever I try to start it, I get taken to a black screen with only the mouse pointer showing. I can still hear the music oddly, but i cant do anything else. I tried missing around with the compatibility settings, and nothing worked. Can anyone else help?

I tried it but I get an error message that says "Simcity 3000 not found". I extracted all the files in the same folder and ran install.bat. Or is there step I missed?

So far, you're getting farther than I am. I tried the patch & different compatibility settings, installing and launching from Galaxy, and all I get is about 5 seconds of black screen and then an immediate crash to desktop.

Since the GOG help for this game talks about changing DOSBOX, I'm guessing those help instructions are a waste of time. So add my name to the list if anyone has a fix. Thanks!

If you are running on Windows, my recommendation would be to right-click the SimCity 3000 Shortcut on your Desktop and open up the Properties. In the Shortcut tab, there is a line called "Target:". In the text next to it, add a space at the end of the text and type in "-intro:off" (Do not include the quotation (") marks when typing this in.)

What this does is skip the video that plays when you start the game. For some reason the video that plays when you run SimCity 3000 has been known to crash the game on modern PCs. This parameter tells the game to skip it when you start the game from it's Desktop Shortcut.
