I encountered a problem with the intro after installing the game.

Before the language patch the english version of Silver ran fine. Now after the language patch and uninstalling + reinstalling the German version of Silver the intro won't work anymore. I get sound but a black screen. Game runs fine but no video sequences. I tried compatibility mode and run as Administrator. The english version still works ...

I'm on Windows 7 x64

Hi EvilDobermann,

I encountered the same Problem as you.

For me, it seems to be a problem with the codecs installed,
'cause when i access the .avi-files from the Installation-Folder via VLC Media Player
the videos play fine, but when i access them via Windows Media Player i only hear
sound.

Luckily I have found a work-around for the problem:
On schote.biz you can download a german-translation-patch for Silver.
Inside the .zip in the subfolder \Deutsch Patch\Silver\data\intro\
you will find these 4 Videos:

info.avi
intro.avi
out2.avi
outcomp.avi

Just overwrite the 4 Video-Files of the same name in your installation-Folder.
Now you should be able to view the videos correctly during play.

But there's one thing, that isn't perfect, with this work-around,
because the video-Files from schote.biz are compressed and although the quality of them is good, it's
not as good as of the original Videos.

But at least the Videos in Silver are running "ok" with this work-around.

I don't know, if you did sent in a support-ticket to GOG-Support,
but I did send a message to a member of the GOG-Team about this Problem,
maybe he can tell us, which codec is needed to play the original videos or
has a different solution to this.

btw, there's also a GermanPatch in the gog-forums, but in my case the video-file of it didn't do the trick.
Also it didn't work with the video-files from my german-retail-CDs."
