I've bought this game years ago and it's one of my favourites. Regretably, the first game doesn't support widescreen resolutions.

I'm wondering if GOG version fixes this. Can I choose my native 1680x1050 resolution?

I'll buy this again if it supports widescreen resolutions. :)

No it doesn't
The game hardly looks bad stretched. i.e. see attached screen shot.

Also, keep in mind that most modern video card (drivers) can upscale while maintaining aspect ratio. Your desktop will probably get buggered up (that's what the start menu and/or Fences is for), but it will basically look the same.
Well, I was hoping for widescreen support (but without the stretching). But if there's no support, then I guess I'll keep my original copies (there's a fix you can download, to play it on VIsta 64bit, so the widescreen support would be the only advantage for the GOG version).

But with or without widescreen support, I highly recommend this game for those who still don't have it.
Weird, the highest resolution I can select for vanilla SS is 1400x1050, but for the expansion I can select 1920x1080 (my monitor's native resolution).

They upgraded the engine in-between the original game and the expansion. I wouldn't have mind if they had patched the original as well, but unfortunately that is not the case.
1400 x 1050 ??? mine only supports 1024 x 768 for the vanilla? It is sad that expansion does not upgrade the first one.
Maybe there is a workaround for inifiles?

is it me or this solution cut the text on the screen a bit? I use it with 1920x1080 anyone experience it?
I also have noticed that with the "universalreschanger2" alt-tab out of the game causes game to crash whenever recalled from the bottom. Couldnt find a viable solution for this.
