once again I got fooled by good reviews.

First, the game, "wobbles". The screen starts moving as soon as the mouse does, long before you
reach the edge of the screen, when "pushing" should begin. Very frustrating. Changing settings on
sensitivity did not help.

Second, it's almost impossible to tell which floor of a building you are on, almost impossible to intelligently
move from one level to another. All they had to do was make each floor have different types of floor color/tile.
Instead, they are all the same. Too confusing, too frustating. Very awkward and time consuming to move around.

Third, the voice acting is the WORST. If they could not hire pros, they should have just left this out of the game.

So, once again I've been fooled and GOG has taken ten bucks and I've got nothing but junk.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I never had any "wobble" issues with this game. And I don't recall ever having trouble telling which floor I am on. Maybe screen size & resolution or brightness play a role in that? That's not to say different floors couldn't or shouldn't stand out better. But I think they aimed for realism.

This game does have its flaws. Voice acting is one of them, but it doesn't really hurt gameplay. And it's so bad you can have fun laughing at it. No need to take it seriously.

Really, it's a good game. Some of the nastier flaws include broken skill progression for medic & engineer (it's very very hard to level up their respective skills so even in late game, you'll never be able to use any of the mid-to-high level medic & engineering items). AI could be better; on many maps, you'll have AI soldiers that do nothing but stand around in one position, waiting for you to come. I guess it's there so you can't just lure them out into a barrage of sniper fire, but it's annoying nevertheless. I also don't like how large a role luck plays, especially in close quarters. Some sections are a bit repetitive and it just isn't too much fun crawling through mostly empty buildings hoping to find the clue you're looking for. And I get very lazy about squad tactics when it's so much less effor to just solo through the game...

Despite all these flaws, it's a good game. Hardly a masterpiece, hardly a classic, but I'd still rate it above average. Perhaps it is helped by the game's uniqueness.
No wobble for me either, and no trouble discerning which floor a soldier is on. Maybe it's a technical problem.
The game is great. You are wrong.

As for the issues you mentioned: never had any. Voice acting may sound bad depending which country you are from.

Try this game. It is one of the best in its genre.

And good luck.
I do not want to jump on the flame-train, but I love the game.

It does crash in very big levels after 2-3 hours playing quite often or if you messed up a lot of things. It is advised to save often... it ALWAYS crashes in the worst possible moments.

I had the problem in one level, if I moved the weapon from left to right without putting it into the inventory first, the graphics interface would all mess up. All character portraits and inventory icons were stacked on top of each other. Even saving and reloading and/or restarting the game would still mess up all graphics in the level. In the end I saw this as an extra challenge that I couldn't distinguish anything in the inventory :D

Few things that are great/unique:
1. the physics, no time to walk down the stairs? Blow a hole into the wall!
2. you can use nearly any weapon in the game for your squad, if you can carry it.
3. the characters are really unique and the voice over is great, you often don't know what they are saying but can guess.
4. the classes are good and you CANNOT become really overpowered.

I wish there was a mod that actual removes any respawning ammunition from the HQ. Maybe I do one myself. The hunting and gathering part of the game is the best. It would then also make you go do random encounters, just to gather ammunition. Every area has its own sort of weapons you can collect bullets for.

p.s. moved text to a new topic "the plan"

So, you couldn’t be bothered to check gameplay videos on YouTube before buying the game? Stop claiming that GOG is basically robbing your money just because you couldn’t be bothered to check other sources about the game.
The game is 13 years old, there’s plenty of info online.

Next time try to find out if a game is for you before buying it. And don’t blame others for failing to do so.

I bought this game in January 2018 and I very much agree with the above. While the game is dirt cheap, you can still get frustrated by wasting your time with it if the things mentioned in this post are not something you want to tolerate. For me, the luck factor and the broken LOS kind of lowered the motivation, and then the Panzerkleins made me stop playing it for now. For some, this might be an interesting game though.
I have to agree with the OP on this one, unfortunately, even though it's the kind of game that I usually enjoy.

Although I've no qualms about the price paid, I think it was on sale when I bought it, I found the game to be horribly slow and tedious to play.

Sometimes I noted the AI would take anywhere between 5 or 10 minutes to complete each turn missions. Not sure if anyone else has observed that, but it just killed any enjoyment in the game and led to me uninstalling.
While I cannot agree with the OP (I think it is a good game and even has some advantages over JA2 such as having an actual z-axis/being able to have buildings more than one story tall) I do have a hard time playing Silent Storm because it uses vanilla JA2's game mechanics and after playing JA2 1.13 (mod) for so many years this is like playing Baldur's Gate then trying to go back to Hillsfar or one of the 'Krynn' goldbox games. I just cannot do it.
I cannot agree with the OP neither.

Whilst it is not a perfect game, it does have some issues, I'd still give it a 7 or 8/10.
I've played SS2 and SS3 throughout twice each so far. I would not do this for a poor game as I've not much patience for such things!
My biggest issue was with the difficulty in some missions. I could not find a way to complete a good five maps worth out of the 30 or so in both SS2 & 3 without resorting to cheats. I could have scoured YT for game guide vids I suppose, but using cheats was simply convenient.
The one at the extremely guarded manor house were you had to also stop that General Bauer (if I remember the name right) from escaping in that rocket craft was one I had to use the disable AI cheat on. Ditto for the final SS2 map due to it's tedious design, and the final SS3 map once those "latest model" Panzerkleins showed up.

@HeathGCF - the longest AI turn I found was about 4 minutes, and that was on a creaky old potato PC made even more creaky by Windoze 10.

I don't understand all the hate thrown at the panzerkleins, except maybe when the AI is spamming them!
This game isn't meant to be a technically accurate WW2 sim. From it's description on the GOG store page it should be clear this is a WW2 sci-fi title!
