I find that many here doesnt like Medic, thinking that role is useless or something. So I think a little guide to clear some of the misconception. Reason because my team of 6 always has one of each class and I dont ever regret a Medic. A fan, in fact.
1st role in a combat team is as a Rifle shooter. Medic got a very convenient Rifle perk tree on the right, with 3 first perk is useful. Force of Habit should wait until medic got final rifle, since it double familiarity capacity at 50% speed. With 3 perks, you got a very good support sniper on your hand.
+++ Even snipe is low, she should use one sniper gun to ensure best 1st shot. But a Fast Snap Fast Aimed Medic can stand equal to a sniper, because of the fast covering fire she can provide for frontline compared to the deadly sniping.
2nd role, the reason of existence of a Medic in a team, is that little ability, KNow enemies' health. It's so very useful, especially at middle to high level, that I dont know how you can play without it. Seriously, that perk alone is why Medic has a place on my team.
3rd role, this is the late game, high level of medicine stage, which is Perfect Medicine Knowledge, and Prolong effect. Sometimes you need a straight up assault at end of mission , and the VP boost come from high level medicine can help you survive it. You just need to carry the unconscious body to somewhere safe, is all.
Example: an engineer with beefed up VP will advance to explosive range to bombard targets. or the range of a PIAT, etc... Or a Soldier lugging HMG to that nearby PK. Or a Grenadier.
++Tip: If you administer VP boost items before Leave the map, you dont suffer any side effect, and the VP boost will last as extra VP, like 200/100. This is the key to have enough VP to last going mano-a-PK with those steel armors.
++Tip: Final battle can be a blast with Prolong Master Medic administer +300% VP boost to each member. 20 turns is more than enough to kill the boss. Even the attack at the spawning moment wont kill off any unlucky trooper.
True, you really need to avoid the Wisdom trap, as it detract you from where Medic might do you good.
Or the Melee trap, because her stat should be on Intelligence or Dexterity (lead to AP), not Strength.
Medic is a great supporter. Same as Engineer. You just need to specialize the role and perk progression.
